Thread: UL Pitchers Enduring Slump

  1. Default UL Pitchers Enduring Slump

Addressing why his UL Ragin' Cajuns were out of step during a three-game Sun Belt Conference series last weekend at Middle Tennessee, coach Tony Robichaux didn't dance around the issue.

Cajun pitching, simply put, was problematic.

    Nm. That means no message.

Hitters didn't exactly step in and help out. Got to get back to getting those timely hits...and scoring more than 4 runs a game.

It all started when Robe decided to pull Ryan Wilson after 5 innings of perfectly acceptable work. He had given up 2 solo bombs and only 2 other hits and we were up 5-2. Once he put in Traffica and Middle saw how they could murder him, the series was over.

Haha okay maybe that's a bit extreme, that didn't define the series really, because technically our guys should have been strong enough to bounce back Sat and/or Sunday. But it's almost like taking out Wilson let them know that we were scared, and once you show your fear, the animal will attack.

Okay all the doom and gloom aside, let's just get back to business and have a respectable week here upcoming. I'll be happy with a 3-1 week no matter how it shakes out. 2-2 would not be cool, we need to right the ship before it gets too far off track.

I am predicting that this team has what it takes to FINALLY take one over SLU after losing 9 straight to them. I also think the ship will be righted and we will take the series 2-1.

Did Wilson's velocity dip in the last inning or two? I don't know. Do you? Was he elevating his pitches? Did something tighten up? Was he gassed from a complete game a week earlier? There might be some sort of reason for the move, maybe based on coaching thousands of college games. Just a hunch.

Also, what was the pitch count? I know he threw about 115 pitches on the previous Friday.

LOL, all I know is what Jay told us on the radio broadcast, which we all know isn't very much. I even heard a few crickets in between plays.

Counted a 16 second pause at one point this weekend.

I haven't listened to the baseball or softball games but from what I understand is that Stevie P talks too much and Jay doesn't talk enough----Go figure???? lol

If there were enough advertising dollars a sidekick would fix the problem, expecting Jay to talk nonstop is crazy.

Steve does it with standard filler bits.

Crowd mikes fix the problem at home, but not on the road.

He could fill a few of those dead airs with score updates, don't tell me he couldn't use a few more of those
