The Astros have optioned third baseman_ Brandon Laird to Triple-A Oklahoma City, and it appears that centerfielder Brandon Barnes and pitcher Brad Peacock will make the Opening Day Roster. Laird hit .319 this spring with five homers. Barnes, a 26-year-old centerfielder, hit .306 with four homers this spring. Peacock, acquired from the A’s in the Jed Lowrie trade, is battling for the fifth spot in the rotation. He has a 3.68 ERA in 14 2/3 innings this spring.
