Cajuns win, place in Preakness
Acadia native Albarado nudges out Acadiana native BorelCalvin Borel lost his place in horse-racing history by a nose to Lafayette native Robby Albarado.
In Saturday's second leg of the Triple Crown, Albarado on Curlin edged past Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, ridden by Borel of Catahoula, to win the Preakness.
Immediately after the race, Albarado said Borel congratulated him on his win, much like Albarado did for Borel after the Derby.
Both jockeys grew up in Acadiana, in barns and on bush tracks, and both have gone on to remarkable careers.
