NEW ORLEANS - Thoughts of a number one seed and a possible host position in the NCAA Tournament's regional round aren't far from the minds of UL's baseball squad now that the Ragin' Cajun winning streak has reached eight games.

"We're always looking for something to play for," said senior infielder Devon Bourque, who had a pair of hits including one that kept a two-run inning alive in UL's 3-1 victory over New Orleans Friday night. "We wanted to get to 40 wins before 15 losses, and we've been able to do that.

"All the other stuff is in the back of our minds. We know the percentage of teams that host that advance is a lot higher, and a lot of the teams that host go to Omaha. If we could get that in front of our home fans, that would be great."

The Cajuns (40-13) probably have to reach the championship game or win next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the NCAA goals to happen, and a win in today's 3 p.m. finale against the Privateers wouldn't hurt.
"We could easily have just laid back here," Bourque said. "But this team's always looking for that next goal."
