And on KATC this morning.
Nathan, here are just a few notes off the top of my head from last nights show.
1) We talked most about PHASE I on the show because that is to begin immediately at a cost of $20 Mil.
A.) Bowling in the South End Zone (Explained the purpose was to add an additional 5,900 seats before the next Phase so that they could move season ticket holders there while construction began on the grand stand side of the stadium.)
B.) Track and Soccer Facility Upgrades (Said there were some Title IX Compliance concerns there that made it necessary to get it done now building separate dressing rooms and locker rooms for men and women. Also building coaches offices for both sports, concessions, and a new press box for the Media and SID.
C.) New Athletic Football Complex that will be connected to the Moncla Indoor facility and house the new 12,000 Sq Ft weight room, 5,000 SQ Ft team meeting and video room, 500 Sq Ft office for Coach Hudspeth and 5,000 Sq Ft equipment room.
Ken Winsted did say that they will send the project out for bid in the next 30-45 days, and then they will go to the UL Board for approval. He also stated that they hoped to finish the stadium endzone before the season, but that it may go into the early portion of the season.
Coach Hudspeth talked for about 7 minutes on the show and said that the new Master Plan will start to pay immediate dividends this weekend while they host their 2013 Football Junior Day. He said they will show the master plan to all the athletes and parents and give a presentation.
Coach Hudspeth said that he wasn't concerned about building facilities to compete against Sun Belt programs; he wanted facilities that would help him compete against some of the best in the country. He said Lafayette is a first class town and that they deserve a first class university with a first class athletic program.
Hudspeth also said he thinks the Master Plan will have an immediate impact on recruiting and will help them bring in the type athletes in the near future to get to the next level.
Coach Hudspeth also invited all RCAF members and Quarterback Club members to come out to the scrimmage at 3pm at Cajun Field tomorrow afternoon. Practice will begin at 2pm with stretching and drills.
Thanks for supplying the notes of last night...had to work and missed..
