The rains came to The Golf Club of Georgia Wednesday, delaying UL's practice round for the NCAA East Regional that begins today in Alpharetta, Ga.
But Ragin' Cajun coach Bob Bass said the rains didn't make the 7,020-yard Lakeside layout any easier.
"It might have slowed it down a tad," Bass said, "but the greens are so firm that you have to hit your irons as a particular part of the green to hold them, and forget about where the pins are. There are a lot of areas you can hit good shots and they don't stop."
The Cajun squad, one of 27 teams taking part in the East Regional, got in nine holes in Wednesday's mid-day practice rounds before the showers struck. The squad got back on the course after a two-hour delay, one that also pushed back the Wednesday night banquet for the teams back more than an hour.
