anyone know what is going on? the interim was at baseball game saturday when the team was away. i found that odd.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the RP faithful, this is not the way to run a major college program.. If coach has a problem to deal with, that does not change the schedule. The team makes the trip and the asst's run the team during his absence. This is not T-ball people and this is NOT michael's team, its the university's team. I am afraid we have turned this program over with way to much power to one man and while I love everything they (the Lotief's) have done... its not good.

Geez, mid-week baseball games get cancelled just because it is cloudy, so they don't have to make a long trip for nothing in case it rains. It is a mid-week non-conference game that would be nice to play, but not completely necessary. I also hear about HUDS team all the time, that I completely agree with, so I'm okay with the softball team being referred to as the Head Coaches team.

This issue does not need to be blown up. This team has been through enough. Let's support our University's Softball team.

You're right, its perfectly normal for a head coach to resign the day before the season starts and cancel a game that could have been coached by his assts, happens all the time

She has not made the last 2 road trips. She is listed on the website as an assistant but not on the program at the La Tech game. I wish I would have saved the program, it listed, I believe, Lana ? as an assistant coach. She coached 1st base.

No I wouldn't. Like I said, mid-week non-conference games are quick to be cancelled, especially if there is a long driving distance, just because there is a possibility of rain. And that makes sense. This is a long grueling season for coaches, so if they have some personal issues that they have to deal with, especially if they or there family have medical issues. I can't disagree with that. These people are human.

He may have some personal issues to deal with, but wouldn't an assistant coach be capable of heading up a road trip?
Coaches in other sports have personal issues from time to time but scheduled games are played. I am certain this team would have competed hard, without the head coach, if given the chance to do so.

It would hardly be fair to the team to make a road trip with a single young coach. Granger has had the red A ever since she was demoted to assistant after being told this was her chance by Farmer. She did not make either tourney events, WKU, or USA.

About the only thing you can hold Lotief accountable for was the staff he assembled for the 2013 season. I am pretty sure he did not expect to lose Joy Webre Leblanc, hiring Granger to replace her. I cannot think he hired this guy Joshua Johnson to go play ball in the middle of the season. So he kind of dropped the ball on those things. One Joy? It is clear now seems to be unfortunate, then of course Granger came in at the last moment, who would think she would get Vermilon flu, and Johnson is a total mess up.
