That would be one interesting situation... LSU at a UL regional. It would not be dominated by purple and canary yellow (no offense, but that ain't gold). UL vermillion would be in force at the Tigue. Plus, most LSU fans are fickle and would not want to risk witnessing the highly probable outcome. More importantly, I would like to think the hosts and guests would behave like good baseball fans, and not act like idiots. They would not want me in charge of crowd control. The penalties would be severe for misbehavior. It would involve nudity, a pair of plyers, and a blow torch. I would, in most instances, remain clothed.

Personally, I like as many Louisiana teams as possible to make it into the regionals. It keeps me more interested. Nonetheless, we took care of business, will be in a regional, and that is way cool. Geaux Cajuns!

The downside, for me, is the possibility of what what tigerdroppings poster referred to as "Alex Box West" and on top of that losing our regional and even worse, getting beaten/eliminated by LSU. There's nothing that I'd hate more than that.

However, if this scenario were likely to happen, I would support LSU as long as they aren't playing us. Regardless of what's right, wrong, or just, it's good sportsmanship to support state schools as long as they aren't playing UL.

However however, I think we still have a shot at a regional if we can get up to a #1 seed.

    God Bless

In reference to your comments about supporting them, since they are another state school... the moment that school begins showing support and respect for other state schools, I might consider doing the same for them.

Their fans, many of which i work with, do nothing but belittle other schools, including UL. I am happy to say I would pull against them then and now and hope they get swept this weekend and don't even make the NCAAs. It would be awesome to listen to them whine over the next few weeks!

This has happened on several occasions. The SEC has sent as many as nine teams to NCAA Tournament play in the past. Do you remember Mississippi State from last season? They did not qualify for the NCAA Tournament and finished 12-17 in SEC play (9th place).

Now, it is a hard rule that any at-large team must have a winning record.

The way I remember it was that it was a rule created after alst year because so many teams, like Miss St., were going to the tourney. It must ahve just been suggested or rumored and I misinterpreted.

Great Post.... All this pansy stuff about supporting ALL schools when they are not playing us ignores the reality of the way the school in BR treats us....U-La-La..... condescending remarks.... I dont accept that treatment from anyone... The only difference between their fans and ours is that when they go to Wal Mart they buy P&G and we buy Vermillion.... They are not better than us simply because they chose to jump on a bandwaggon of a winning program... We need to quit trying to make nice with people who laugh and belittle us...I dont want any P&G in OUR regional.... Go Vandy.... Keep those losers at home baby

    IHate,

We will never win the war of words. That site is a bunch of idiots that get off on potty-mouthing each other. It is like a fresh cow pie attracting swarms of flies. They do not mind being hated. It does not bother the fly swarm. They just love the pile.

The key is that UL needs to keep winning. Let's watch what UL baseball does this year, and ride that ride. I seriously doubt we will be in a regional with LSU. It is doubtful they will even make a regional this year. Either way, this is a year for UL baseball!

I hear you and agree with your sentiments.... Looking at the state of UL Baseball one cannot be more pleased... This team has Omaha talent... remains to be seen if we have the heart of that 2000 team that refused to lose.... And with most of the key cogs returning we should be even better next year

Perhaps this offseason would be a great time to hep Robe get the Tigue up to Regional status... I'm not sure what that means or costs but I'm in.. checkbook and a strong back....... well maybe not so strong anymore...lol

I think he was pretty clear. He pulls for anybody but Refineryville when they play. Gone Golfin has a different view. I cannot see a problem with either, it is where they are in life. Why should he pull for Refineryville? I mean really? The BS they pulled in Baton Rouge? Our AD making overtures to help them reset their football schedule against Monroe brought no reconcillitory moves from them. Yea, we play them next year at their place, but they have no immediate plans for a return. No I don't believe I need to pull for them ever. Can you give me one reason to actually pull for them besides being more gracious?

Like my buddy always says in response to the "I pull for them becasue its our state school" folks, "LSU winning doesn't build roads, or lower taxes or anything else for me or for the state. So what does the fact with it being our state school have to do with anything?"
