A year ago at this time, the UL Ragin' Cajuns football team was just beginning its spring season with a returning quarterback coming off a great season that culminated in a New Orleans Bowl victory.

Behind him in the depth chart was a red-shirt sophomore who had played some at the Division I level at Houston due to injuries before transferring to the Cajuns.
