I do have to say their record is impressive (17-4) but they've not played the best of schedules either. I know Brian was talking about how we didn't want to play UNO due to the RPI hit, but SoAL actually played them a three game series. I guess winning 1 out of 3 against the College of Charleston worked to help them offset the UNO series, but other than a single midweek game against Southern Miss I don't see any other teams on their schedule that you'd say were baseball powers.

I was talking about in comparison to ours. Our winning percentage is better with a stronger strength of schedule. No doubt, 17-4 is impressive.

    EXACTLY RIGHT Boomer!

This has been an issue for this university since the beginning of the previous administration.

There is no such thing as collective salvation. It is a fantasy born out of a certain ideology that bears no resemblance to reality or the laws of nature.

And, those promoting this do not live in the real world, a trait many in Academia and the political world share.

I in no way was trying to say that USA doesn't deserve what they have, I just think the Cajuns should be garnering more respect.

I am happy for USA, I just wish both USA and UL were in the polls together.

This is just one poll, every other poll I have seen has us receiving more votes than south al

The ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll just came out and we are receiving 21 votes in the "Other Receiving Votes" section at the bottom.... good for #29 in the nation. In this one we are ranked better than South AL for what it's worth.

Ok so I'll push back my prediction one more week... if we beat Southern AND sweep a ROAD SERIES at MT, then we should def be ranked. That would be really impressive to sweep our first conference road series.

A least one team got a spot. Maybe another good showing this week will get us in.
South AL is doing it with smoke and mirrors. They could have easily been swept by Smoke Laval coached UNF (51 RPI), winning two 1-run games and losing the Sat. game 15-2. They lost two of three to College of Charleston, a decent mid-major but nothing to write home about. C of C pounded them 12-2 on Friday.

South AL's team BA is .295, way under our BA an they only have 9 HR's to our 15 bombs. Their team ERA is almost a run higher than the Cajun's ERA. They aren't a bad team. I just don't see a 10 RPI from them holding up.

They are our final home series of the season, I hope they keep winning.

I'll respectfully disagree with some of you.

I think South Alabama is really good....the best they've been since maybe 2001. Time will tell....but I think Troy (despite a low RPI) is very solid as well and USA won two of three on the road over the weekend.

As far as scheduling is concerned, remember OOC is done a couple of years in advance. (The game against UNO was probably an exception since they announced their return to D-1 later). I think Bab has a tentative schedule OOC for all the way to 2015 or 2016. Therefore, scheduling with the RPI in mind is pretty tough.

And, geography will always play an important part in mid week games. We're going to play the instate schools. That's just the way it is.

Jay, after seeing the Master Plan... I bet you're looking forward to sitting in the new Baseball Press Box after renovations. I've seen the concept drawing of the Tigue and it really looks like it's going to be an eye-catching park.

    Can't flipping wait!

Jay no doubt South AL is much improved. They have won a few close games, but they did win. They don't seem to be able to dominate their opponents as we have. I'm just not feeling their schedule strength, I guess.

Fell to 31st after Saturday loss to Middle. Need a win today...stating the obvious.
