Thread: Cajuns RPI sitting very nice so far...

Default Cajuns RPI sitting very nice so far...

Currently our RPI is 13! UTSA Has won a lot of games after they got swept by us, like we all knew they would cause they are a solid team. So their RPI has gotten to 37, with them being 13-6. That helps us big time. Also CMU has started to put some wins together and their RPI is now in the 50's.

Of course it's very early so take it for what it's worth. Also a lot of peeps like to follow Boyd's World but my favorite site for tracking RPI and teams on our schedule's RPI is warrennolan.com. It's an awesome site and always up to date. It may not be "spot on" with what the NCAA will end up using but it's a pretty darn good measuring stick to get an idea.

    Checkout UL's page here... http://WarrenNolan.com/baseball/2013...iana-Lafayette

As GoneGolfin will attest, it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to even look at RPI. It won't even be worth talking about till sometime in May probably.

I hate when people say this.

It's like saying, it's wayyyyyyy to early to look at rankings. I don't give a rat's azz how early it is. It is cool to follow along all season. That's all I'm saying.

I didn't say anything about it meaning we are going to get an at-large invite to a regional or anything... I just wanted to point out that it is looking nice right now, and it's at its highest since the season started.

If you would follow it all year, you would have a better understanding as to why it goes up and down, and it gives you perspective as to why one series might be more important than the next, when you can see the teams on your schedule coming up and their RPI attached to their name, it gives a good insight to who you're playing.

The way this team is going, don't be surprised if we are HOSTING a regional

I dont think it's too early to look at rpi, which I also follow year round on warrennolan. We are 1/3 of the way through the season and our rpi is 13. our conference rpi is 6. There are teams with similar to better records then ours with much worse rpi. Which means they have a hill to climb. It tells me all these wins we have have come against a good sos. Obviously we need to keep winning. But like football, its alot harder to get to 1 when you start outside the top 25.

Prediction.... If we win tomorrow, we crack top 25. and yes that would also matter.

You need to remember that the RPI is weighted more for your opppnents opponents, so it will fade with time as some of these schools start their conference games. We need to win a lot more.

Yea "it will fade with time", which is why we are saying it's so important to be at 13 right now. We are in a great spot as of now.

I'd much rather be at 13 right now before it "fades with time" than be at 134 like some of our conference mates.

It is fun to be at 13 right now, but not important.

RPI is a function of your wins, your opponents wins, and most important their opponents wins pretty much in reverse order. Again when some of our opponents start beating their weak conference mates our RP will slide irrespective of our current RPI.

Unlike the BCS formula where you start has a lot to do with your upside, RPI doesn't.

Enjoy the ride, all we can do is win to help the RPI.

If we currently had an RPI of 114, we'd surely be looking at it. So...with that in mind, it's not too early to at least take note of the fact that we are winning and our RPI reflects that.

    Good point.

If UL was 141 I would be asking; Why? Why? Why? What? When? Where? Who?

At 14 I'm saying; Why not! I'll take it.
