They basically did it all at the plate in the fourth inning, and that combined with Ryan Wilson's complete game propelled the UL baseball team to a 9-2 win over ULM in its Sun Belt Conference opener in front of 2,325 on Friday night at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Still too early. Connectivity is still too low and now with the change in the RPI formula, there is another element to consider ... home/road games. Normally I would say that you can begin looking at the RPI about 20 games into the season (this means your own schedule and all of your opponents' schedule). IOW, connectivity. But in addition to connectivity, we must consider that the # of home/road games may be out of balance for your own team and that of your opponents. Thus, it is now going to take two or three conference weekend series before the numbers really start to mean anything.

FWIW, under the 2012 formula, the Cajuns would have an RPI ranking of about #9 right now (differential is due to all of the home games in 2013). The Cajuns have a chance to make some hay in the upcoming weeks against some road opponents. Particularly, Southeastern Louisiana and Houston. I am really hoping that USM can get their WP in gear as doing so will be of great benefit to the Cajuns.

UTSA is really helping the Cajuns (very good OWP). They also took the first game of the Tulane series in New Orleans ... 3-2 last night.

I suspected that so many home games to start the season was hindering us a bit under the new formula. But...as with all things...winning and more winning will even overcome the .60 for a home game win.

You are right, two or three weeks from now...assuming we continue to add up the Ws...our RPI could get really interesting.

.70 for a home win. I think that is too small for college baseball ... but .60 would be an onerous penalty.

I believe the home game multiplier should be .9 for programs under 8000 in attendance and .3 for those above 8000.
