Their duck gumbo is awesome. In fact, they are catering my wedding. I hope I have time to actually sit down and eat.

Off topic but, I always liked Alesi's Pizza especially their Antipasto salad - simple but good!

It's also a great place to go if you want to eat yourself into a true food coma. Their version of the Tour of Italy is a mind boggling amount of food. I got it in college (peak eating age) and I could barely touch half of it. What is even more surprising is that there are people who finish it in one sitting according to the waitress. Last time I went to Alesi's me and my wife shared it and we still took home enough for dinner the next night.

Is Robin's in Henderson still open. I haven't eaten there in about 10-15 years.

Cafe Des Amis in Breaux Bridge is legit as well in my opinion.

I think that's about as far back as his memory goes due to his young age. On the other hand, I remember it back in the early 60's. At that time, they were on edge of town.

Man, I enjoyed reading this thread. Isn't it great to have so many wonderful restaurants in Lafayette. I think Don's seafood gumbo is the best gumbo in the world and also the crawfish bisque in the stuffed crawfish heads are awesome. The seafood salad at Don's Seafood Hut is unbelieveable. I'm surprised no one mentioned Cafe Vermillionville. The last time I was in Lafayette I ate bruch at a place on Pinhook called Jolie's Bistro. Wow; the blackened Drum was great and the biscuit in Taso gravy blew me away. I always loved Riverside. Does anyone remember when it was where the Hilton is now? Dupuy's is one of my favorites for oysters. I understand Blacks closed??? How I miss Lafayette. Mississippi is a culinary desert. There really only two places on the coast to have an above average meal - Mary Mahoneys and Vrazels. Off topic but, I always liked Alesi's Pizza especially their Antipasto salad - simple but good!

Beau, the first time I ever came to Lafayette was around Thanksgiving of 1967. Alesi's was the last building in town on the Abbeville highway.

I know the OP was asking about seafood... but I still love Alesi's. I've been eating there since a kid in the early 70s, and the marinara is still the same awesome Alesi recipe. The one thing that has changed is their ribeye. They actually have a really good ribeye steak now. I love their marinara dishes, the antipasto salad, and their pizza, to even bother with the steak. Lafayette food rules all the way around!
