Nice to hear Mr. Pat is getting new digs. The man makes one of the best Caucasians in the city (and according to my uncle the best Bloody Mary in the world), and he gave me and my cousins all the swizzle sticks we wanted when we were kids.

The bar itself has to be at least 30 feet long and I believe they said 4 large flat screen TVs. They are putting in a new door in the bar area so people can come in and out without having to go through the restaurant. I was trying to convince them to paint the bar red, I am not sure if they were going for it. It will be the light blue that is on the Don's sign with black trim.

I will say that the Downtown location has suffered a bit, due to changes in management, but like I said the right kind of people are back running things now, so stop in if you get a chance. I'm with you hawk. With all the different food choices downtown (sushi, mexican, greek/lebanese, italian), I definitely think there is niche in the market for Don's Downtown to reestablish itself.

Who was the bartender at Don's downtown who passed away within the last couple of year?

Also, I won't comment on the last bit of your clause, but know that it could have gotten way out of hand.

I will get in touch with my uncle and see if he can push the owner to go red in the bar and put up some UL stuffs.

I thought the same thing when I heard the longtime bartender died, but it wasn't Mr. Pat as I found out for my cousins rehearsal supper that he is still there, and still the coolest bartender on the planet.

I know it's unmanly to say I sucked on swizzle sticks like a boss when I was young. But I don't care, they were awesome. Big League Chew awesome. It's not often you get a dull toothpick covered in sugar crystals to excite the taste buds. Homoerotic or not...swizzle sticks are awesome.

I have to say I still remember the Au Gratin at Angelle's on the Thruway across from Prejean's.

Is Paul's pirogue still open? They had very good crawfish.

I have to say those oysters look good. I had some in Clearwater when the girls were playing there recently, and they were tiny.

Best crawfish, oysters, boiled shrimp-Crawfish time on Verot. And get a link of boudin too. Good in the boil!
In the words of Mr. Walker (Jay, not Scott), you and I are fishing in the same hole.

I actually prefer DI's boiled crawfish to that of Crawfish Time, they're actually my favorite from a restaurant with CT on Verot in 2nd. However, the other dishes at DI's tend to be on the bland side while CT seems to keep the flavor kicking on their other items. As I stated earlier in the thread, Crawfish Time's charred oysters are excellent. As for extra bread to soak up the leftover juice!
