When Steve Spurrier stood at the podium during a recent press conference, he had planned on talking about the Gamecock’s first opponent of the 2007 season, Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns. .But Spurrier found himself addressing questions about the off-field behavior and academics of a few of his athletes. But after back-to-back .500 seasons -- their best two-year run in 12 years -- the Ragin' Cajuns are hoping this will be their breakout season. "Our goal is just to execute and keep getting better," running back Tyrell Fenroy said, "and this should be another step in the right direction." Fenroy, a junior, is 1,086 yards from breaking the school's rushing record of 3,335 yards, held by former Washington Redskins player Brian Mitchell. Fenroy ranks fourth with 2,250 yards. I know, gameday seems so far away, yet so close. Anyway, we run a no huddle spread offense. We ran this last year, but fired the old coordinator, and while he didnt change alot of how we set up, but he did make us change some of the ways we use our RB's and TE's and the speed is ALOT faster, as in the ball will either be hiked or someone will be in motion as soon as the ball is set for play. Essentially, we will try to have the offense run so fast that hopefully at some point the defense will make a mental mistake and open an opportunity for us.

On Defense, essentially, I heard, its a 4-3 style scheme, but we will be extremely aggressive, stunts and blitzes all game long. I've heard that a problem was every once in a while having mental breakdowns on defense, well what is being done now is if you are out of position or dont know whats goin on for the play, instead of trying to figure out on the fly, the idea is to go to the ball (your more useful goin to the ball than staying back out of position). I'm excited to see what will happen on Saturday, this should seriously give us an idea of what we will be like this year.
