I have an capitol idea -
Assign Josh Peter, sportswriter for the Times Picayune, the task of covering the game with the 'cocks.
Given what Peter tried to do to UL and Anthony Johnson a few years ago, I'm sure he would be up for job.
in my opinion if we are going to have achance to win this game it will be with our defense not our offense. we need them to make a few mistakes and we capitalize. Our defense cannot give up the big play. I dont think we are going to go td for td with spurrier. Our d better show up ready to play and hit. We have got to get good pressure on the QB. We have to take advantage of their weaknesses like the o-line and the qb. We cant depend on beating their strenghts like the d-line and the lb's
That will only go away with winning.... Saying, or hoping it will go away will never happen unless we start beating the teams that we play. Lets face it 75% of our schedule is against teams that if you are a decent div 1 club you will win. We have to win these games..... Our fans don't want much, they want a winning team. We dont have to beat big time schools to achieve that we just have to beat the teams we play in our league (one of the worst leagues in Div1 football). If we can't beat those teams then who can we beat?
I just saw this article regarding the USC QB. Interesting. Apparently, 3 other players will be out as well. This was on a WIS TV Station website in Columbia, SC.
Spurrier suspends Blake Mitchell over faulty attendance

USC's Mitchell suspended over faulty attendance. David Stanton reports.
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - WIS has learned Coach Steve Spurrier has suspended quarterback Blake Mitchell for the team's first game.
Spurrier told WIS' Drew Stewart that the reason is faulty attendance in class.
It's not the first time Mitchell has been in Spurrier's doghouse. Last September, he missed several games after getting into an altercation in a Five Points bar.
Mitchell was charged with simple assault, for punching a bouncer.
The first game is against Louisiana-LaFayette on September 1st.
More soon...

I don't know. I had read that the freshman was in trouble too. Something about him missing some time during spring becasue of messing up in the classroom, or not being eligible, or something, can't remember. He was supposed to be the starter going into the season, but because he missed the spring, he was way behind schedule. the same article had said that spurrier was thinking about red-shirting him. If he is red-shirting him, he isn't going to waste it on one game. If he isn't, then they'll likely live and die behind him all year. I would red-shirt him because you have a 3 yr letter winner/5th year senior in front of him. why waste the experience when you RS him and give him a year to better learn the system. would still have him for 4 years. doesn't make sense, especiall since they're expected to contend for the SEC East.
this is from their rivals site.
12 Blake Mitchell | 6-3, 211, Sr., 3V
7 Chris Smelley | 6-1, 221, Fr., RS
6 Tommy Beecher 6-1, 221, So., SQ
Well, check that. I must ahve read wrong. From reading some of the pages on their rivals site, it doesn't seem as though the freshman, Smelley, is a bad student or ever in trouble. It also looks like he might have already had his red shirt year.
I really don't know the facts. Hopefully, Yazoo will come around and set us straight with all this mess.
