Coach Fouquier's family is settled in as well. His wife Christine was a big part of the Fan Day planning and execution along with Coach Wingerter's wife, Cydra. these two ladies worked really hard and deserve a lot of credit for the success of Fan Day.

The few minutes we spent with Coach Fouquier after the Fan Day were eye opening.
The dude does have some strong views on many things, and he does not hold his tongue! LOL!!

I believe this might be a guy you want to go to war with!

The defense really impressed me and my buddy. Fenroy looks like king kong with pads on. He is rather large this year. My excitement level is about the same as waking up next to Jessica Alba. Well, maybe not THAT much, but....... you know.............

I think it is tought to get a read on the offense right now. Considering our best athlete is at the QB position and he has to stop when he is touched. A couple of things I am worried about from my very limited study of the offense this morning.

I don't know how we are going to handle 3& 7+. Mike just is not a pocket passer whatsoever, which is ok, we will just have to get creative. He may be able to make some touch throws and throw on the run, but he really struggled on some slant routes this morning when the ball just needed to be rifled in there. Some were thrown too soft and some were behind. We still have a lot of time to correct these things though.

I didn't know who Jessica Alba was so I did a quick google picture search and now I'm sure I will burn in hell. WOW! What a babe but I'm way to old. She would be the death of me but what a way to geaux! I'm really getting excited about the season. I can't wait for the Ohio game.

Help me here if you please.I am a avid football observer of all college & pro football. I've
asked some knowledgeable people of the game this question with no satisfactory answer maybe some of you people can help.My question is,is there some kind of ncaa rule on the books that that resrict universities from scrimmaging each other during fall camp?

Someone asked Jay that question on BEV a week or so ago. I can't recall if he said ther was an ncaa rule against it. But one thing he pointed out was the expense involved to travel a team just for a scrimmage.

Jay can probably give you a definative answer.

UL's football team wrapped up its preseason camp in Saturday's scrimmage, and will go into a regular once-daily practice routine leading up to the Sept. 1 season opener at South Carolina. The squad has held 16 total practices so far and will have either 11 or 12 workouts prior to the opener, and offensive coordinator Blake Anderson said his unit will need all of those workouts. "We may have overloaded them a little bit this last week," Anderson said, "but we've got to get it in at the same time and look at it all before game time. It's kind of a Catch-22 with that." UL's defense got its revenge Saturday morning. After hearing all week about their struggles in the fall camp's first scrimmage, the Cajun defensive unit took out its frustrations in Saturday's second full-scale scrimmage session. One week after the offense recorded big play after big play, that unit had only two out of 111 scrimmage plays go for over 13 yards. The only scores came in situations when the offense started at the defense's 20-yard line or closer. "We came out with some emotion and some passion," said linebacker Brent Burkhalter, who had one of the scrimmage's two interceptions. "The coaches were on us after last week that we didn't have the passion we needed, but we got a lot more right today than we did last week." "They came to play and the offense didn't," said Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle. "As a defense we definitely got better. On offense, we were sloppy at times ... we have guys that can make plays, but today we didn't throw it well and we had penalties that kept us from big things."   While spending the weekend in Lafayette with relatives, I decided to drop in on the Cajuns Saturday a.m. scrimmage. It was rather difficult to blend in with my blue/gold Cowboy Club hat and blue shirt. It seemed like red was the color of the day.

One burly looking fellow came up to me and said, "no spying". I replied that I was not spying, I was simply measuring some of the players for the expected number of coffins that would be needed as the result of the high rate of suicides.

I asked one of the red men what their strength was going to be this year - offense or defense. He replied, as best as I can remember, as I laughed out loud, "our deep snapper should be good, and our third-and-long lineup should be outstanding."

Another conversation had the Cajun fan lamenting that they were going to have to really work hard to meet the new attendance requirements. I think he said they had to average 16,000. I told him not to worry about this year, because Cowboy fans would take care of the average for them. Now next year, with your typical 4-6, 5-5 season, . . .

ULL does have a large, athletic looking group of guys. They are using a "no-huddle, hurry-up" offense and they are ready to snap the ball the minute the official blows the ready whistle. (So the Cowboys will definitely have to trash our normal slow-calling of defense alignments and get the right people on the field quickly.)

Their QB is not hesitant to run with the ball. They line up with 3 wide outs on one side, a single wide out on the other, or two receivers on each side, split wide. Most of their passing routes seemed to be pretty basic, with a lot of passes going into the flats. They have a couple of speedy wide receivers that they use on wide sweeps.

On short yardage and red-zone situations, they bring in the big tight ends and hand off to one of their two hard running backs. They have a 1,000 x 2 years rusher who is pretty strong and quick.

I just can't go on any longer. I am getting very depressed, I just don't see how in the world our little ol receivers, puny passer, hesitant running backs, and ordinary kickers can compete. Maybe as I travel back home to Cowboy country, my thoughts and recollections of the practice may become clearer and I may develop a different perspective. Maybe the UL at South Carolina opening game will give me reason for hope. lol

1A plays 12 games, not 10 or 11 or however many 1aa is allowed.

Still receiving reports from the UL fans that visited the McNeese scrimmage. Once they are all received and the information is forwarded to coach Bustle, I will reprint the scouting report for all to see...
