Why am I not surprised that you wouldn't take the deal? And the day I listen to your sorry brokeb@ck ass about what I need to do or say is the day they start passing out overcoats in hell.

LOL! You, one of the chief "chain jerkers", be quiet??

Here is how I see some of the Cajun fans (not all of them) relationship to fans (again some but not all) of the other state schools.

Those Cajun fans have been fighting with the LSU fans (rightly and wrongly) for so long that some of the hardcore Cajun fans have developed a slightly paranoid "us-against-the-world" attitude. They usually react greatly to any slight. Some of the fans of the other state schools (who I call the chain jerkers) see that reaction and say things to jerk the Cajun fans' chains. This reinforces the Cajun fans "us-against-the-world" attitude and causes another reaction from them. This brings on more chain jerking from the "chain jerkers". Rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

As long as the fans from both sides participate in this cycle, I don't see it ever being broken.

    I try to avoid participating.

    Doc _
Well McNeese the University filed suit against us in 1984 over the name issue, and that is enough to dislike them forever. Yea! I see some of the benign posts on Geaux Cowboys board, yea we are paranoid about your attitude towards UL and it's fan base. McTail between his brok(e) back legs is the main crap stirrer. Then the guy comes here with crocodile tears.

You can rest assured that your fans will not be spit on, roughed up, sucker punched or have their vehicles vandalized.

I'd like to see the proof that McNeese State University, itself, sued the Cajuns over the name. I'm not versed on exactly what went down except for what is written on the "Battle for a Name" webpage and that is not exactly what is said there.

All I know is when I ventured into McNeeseVille to watch Mr. Forroux for half a game last year I was treated very nicely.

I plan on doing the same.

    Non sequitur
I don't think anyone here would expect any different.

Ragin' Cajuns Re: Question for UL Football TV games this year..

It may end up being on one of the pay channels (600's) on the COX digital box. That's where I'll be looking for it.

  10. UL Football What to look for in the 2007 Ragin' Cajuns Football Team

Don't look for wholesale changes from the two, but Anderson says the offense is going to operate at an even faster pace than last year's no-huddle attack to take advantage of mismatches. Fouquier's defensive M.O. is putting players in position to make big plays - an area that was sorely lacking last year.

  11. UL Football Re: What to look for in the 2007 Ragin' Cajuns Football Team

The stars were aligned for UL's football team in 2006, but they became falling stars after what was forecasted as a breakout season wound up as something less.

This year, the forecasts are much as they were two seasons ago, when the Ragin' Cajuns were picked in the middle of the Sun Belt Conference pack. That year, though, UL won its final five games to claim a share of the league title, and was a heartbeat away from the program's first Division I bowl appearance.

Can it happen again? If it does, can coach Rickey Bustle's Cajuns do a few more things early to put themselves in position for another such stretch run?

Following are a few more questions that need quick answers as the team reports today to open preseason practice:
    Will revamped staff mesh?

Struggles on offense and defense led Bustle to make significant changes in the Cajun coaching staff after the 2006 season. Both coordinators are new - Blake Anderson on offense and Franklin native Kevin Fouquier with the defense.

  12. UL Football Desormeaux's 'Slash' days end as he Targets Starting QB Role

He took precious few snaps last season, completing only two passes all year.

But Michael Desormeaux says that 2006 made him a better quarterback, and that's a very important thing for UL's football team heading into fall drills.

When the Ragin' Cajuns report today for the start of training camp, Desormeaux is the unquestioned trigger-man for a revamped offense. That wasn't the case last year, when he was the backup to four-year starter Jerry Babb.

Instead, Desormeaux was head coach Rickey Bustle's version of "Slash" - a jack-of-all-trades kind of player.

The former Catholic High-New Iberia standout spent some time at wide receiver. He was the nickel or dime back in several of the Cajuns' defensive packages. He was the personal protector on the punt team and touched the ball almost as much on special teams - one 51-yard fake punt, three fumble recoveries and one onside kick recovery - as he did on offense.

He was one of only 10 Division I-A players to see time on offense, defense and special teams. The first question on UL's weekly depth chart was where in the world is Michael Desormeaux.
