Thread: 2007 Football preview and offseason fan talk

Default Couple of questions about players

I saw where Eric Benoit the tackle from Church Point/JUCO was on the roster on ragincajuns.com but was not on the roster that was given out at the scrimmage and I did not see him play. Is he still on the team? He has good size at 6'4" 305 lbs. and originally signed with Baylor I believe.

I also noticed Jeremy Cook was in uniform but no pads/or helmet. He was the 3 star recruit and rivals.com top 40 in LA player that committed to us on signing day. He was passed over by many schools because his grades were not in order. I am guessing his grades are now in order and could not scrimmage because a player must practice in shorts for the first 3 days like the Ortego kid from Tuerlings. Any way the Cook player looks good, very well built. He was on the roster yesterday and was listed at DE 6'4" and 235 lbs.

Just looking for any more info on these 3 players. Ortego looked to be the best punter yesterday. What did he average in HS.

Hate the pepper as a mascot. Love it as a logo.

I also noticed that Lanier Coleman was playing DT yesterday rather than OG. Evidently, the coaches feel there is enough depth along the OL to make a move such as this.

Benoit did not graduate in the spring from JC, so Baylor pulled their offer. The Cajun staff didn't think Cook would be eligible, so they had no scholarship available for Benoit when he became eligible. Benoit is now at Kansas State, he is a good kid. The Cajuns are still holding a Scholarship for Odom in hopes the Clearinghouse gives him the final clearence to participate. If not, Odom will not enroll until spring.

The fact that Cook is eligible is great, due to the injury to DE Greg Hathorn. He is a solid prospect and now will be ready this spring to contribute more, along with another true FR. Kyle Cox.

Poo Poo was there! It was an excellent event...far from perfect, but still an awesome event!

Kudos to Gerald Hebert, Mrs Fouquier, Weingerter, et al, Hammer, and many, many others who escape my memory at this moment!

I was fortunate enough to be there in the "worker bee" capacity! I got to witness first hand the hard work these folks put in.

It is my understanding that there will be a de-briefing sometime in the next few weeks to assure that any problems that occurred today, will not be there next year!

    Thanks to all involved!

    Z.
