UL's football players got to hit each other for real Monday.
The Ragin' Cajuns held their first shoulder-pads practice of fall camp Monday, working out for just over two hours after two NCAA-mandated days of shorts and helmets.
It was a day that the players, and the coaches, were waiting for.
"There's only so much you can do in shorts," said Cajun coach Rickey Bustle, "and there's only so much you can do in shoulder pads only. All of this is geared toward getting into live stuff and getting some full contact work."
That comes Wednesday when UL holds its first full-gear workout. The squad will have a second day of shoulder-pads only practice at 3:30 p.m. today, and Bustle said today's drills will include some review time from the first three days.
