Thread: Basketball: It's March - time for UL to dream

  1. Default Basketball: It's March - time for UL to dream

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- UALR did it in 2011 despite having just the eighth-best record in regular-season Sun Belt Conference play. Western Kentucky did it last year despite being just a No. 7 seed.

Win the Sun Belt Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament, that is.

I'd be embarrassed to be in the NCAA Tournament with our record. Everyone laughs at the teams that "accidently" make it.

Embarrassed? I'd be ecstatic to make the tourney. I could care less what the rest of the country thinks

I didn't mean it would be bad for the school or anything. Just those teams that make the tourney with 10-14 wins, always have 16 seed b/c of their 200+ RPI, is embarrassing.

I noticed you didn't say turn down what you earned by their criteria.

I feel the same way in March as I do in December, "never turn down the chance at a postseason appearance.

At some point the quote becomes "UL has been to the dance 5 years in a row" at that point the giggles are long forgotten and the recruit signs.

CORRECT! In NO WAY would I even think for a second that we should turn it down, if it were to happen. Just saying we would become "that team" that people laugh at while filling out their brackets!

We would make it because we earned it. We would have beaten the field and that would be a feat in and of itself. I don't think the players and coaches would care what anyone thinks about that.

We could be selected for the play-in game, only game on and if we win we get credit as a tourney win.

I would take that in a heart beat.
