  1. Default "Playing UP"

He was just 4 years old most of kindergarten, and only 17 for all but one regular-season game of his freshman year at UL.

In fact, Ragin' Cajuns sophomore point guard Elfrid Payton -- named Wednesday to the first team of the 2012-13 All-Sun Belt Conference Basketball Team -- turned 19 only one day before scoring a career-high 31 points in a game last Feb. 23 against Western Kentucky.

Great story on EP. IMO, this guy will be mentioned with the best players post-Toney when it's all said and done.

Wait...this is a guy who surely isn't a point guard. More like a forward...and a struggling one at that. Shouldn't even be starting.

    :-)

"and never really came close to skipping a grade so he could catch up age-wise with those around him in class."
