I asked Jay, how close was "not even close"?

They said he was standing up at the plate after coming out of his slide (assumably when the tag was applied). Maybe he did not touch the plate? It is amazing to me that a home plate umpire could miss something that sounds so obvious ... unless he did not touch the plate. Or at least the ump mistakenly thought he did not touch the plate. Sounds like five runs for the umpire today.
