75' board with 37' being the LED/Video portion of it? Sounds pretty awesome.

Boomer did you get a height?

I know it's not but 37' could in theory be a ticker tape.

The reason this is up and running is it has nothing to do with the Master Plan, and it is being done specifically because it wasn't in the Master Plan. It is getting done now because of the specific donation mentioned above, but in "lite" version that includes the main scoring and display section that can have the advertising bells/whistles added at a later time when funding is available.

It will begin installation the week after the weekend series with South Alabama, which is May 10-12. It will be operational for the Sun Belt Conference tournament on May 22nd, which will be the next event in the stadium following the South Alabama series. The Daktronics folks will be here to operate the new scoreboard during the tournament and will train university personnel at that time to operate it in the future.

I don't think the overall size could be 12x75 with the 16:9 high definition format making any kind of sense. If you assume a 75' wide scoreboard, the height with a 16:9 format would be 42'. If you assumed a video only section of 37' in width, the height of the video section would be 21' high. Damn, I still remember some of that math.

16:9 is the aspect ratio not the dimensions. Think widescreen movie

I think I better not comment---anyway that is what I was told it was to be!!!! Although it is not part of the "so called" master plan it takes on a very important part of the baseball expansion!!!

I gotta say I was hoping for something different but whatever. This works too.

I hope the admin doesnt have anything to do with this scoreboard getting installed on time.

I am picturing the SBC tournament at the Tigue and the scoreboard not being completed because they are still crossing ts and dotting i's.

We would have to set up a makeship scoreboard made of cardboard squares hanging from hooks. Someone wojld have to go flip to the next number when a team scored.

    Jk here but not really....

Someone overheard Farmer saying he had to do a study first.

It is funny yet holds some truth to it ... is this what is referred to as irony?

The cardboard scoreboard could be a good idea and we could use the Ragin' Cajun font for the numbers, except:
    1. No one could read them;
    2. They are trademarked so we would have to get approval and pay someone extra for them.

You are right; let's keep the admin out of it and hope for the best ... the best, we don't get that here very often do we? Let's also hope this is a change in the way things get done around here.

Get it done ... right ... and on time!

Boom, think back bud.. except for a few accidents we have always half assed it. Go back before "the fossil".. Throw your buddy Blanco in there.. all good old boys.. Some are trying to change that, but they keep getting push back..."I cant get the conference shun"... REALLY!!!?? Come on man.. snap out of it!! Up until this past December at the NO bowl, Savoie had NO idea how important facilities upgardes were... Why do you think its all of a sudden balls to the wall?? So, if Tjoe is just learning this... do you really think SF put in any serious effort prior??? Im gonna say.....uhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... no.

Z21, this is what makes any sense to me ... they just didn't get it. At least I hope that is what the problem was. Now I hope that they do get it so that we can get on and quit being one of the worst D1 athletic departments in the country!
