16:9, is that for every 16 inches one way, it's 9 inches the other way? If that's so than it can be as big as the $$ you have to spend. You can tell I am not an engineer. I do know 2 + 2 is 4.,,,,,

Anyway the board will be 12'x75'-----37' of the video area----Tony got the deal done as he is very close to these backers and has always been----Both Gerald and Ken helped very much in getting it done!!! Some things just don't happen in public and are hatched behind the scenes before the birth announcement---meantime, I want the Master plan NOW!!! Still finalizing how to present it as a total or in stages----maybe I am just too prejudiced toward what I think my Alma Mater is when it is not as good as to what it is trumped up to be---but I don't think so---just can't understand the conference shun!!!!!!
Boomer, its simple. The admin hasn't shown any real leadership WRT athletics in other conferences' minds. But like most of you, I think that is finally coming to pass. We can only hope its not too late. I think Georgia So., and App State are fine adds to the Sun Belt - - it's just not the conference I wish to be in ...........................
Boomer did you get a height?
I know it's not but 37' could in theory be a ticker tape.
The reason this is up and running is it has nothing to do with the Master Plan, and it is being done specifically because it wasn't in the Master Plan. It is getting done now because of the specific donation mentioned above, but in "lite" version that includes the main scoring and display section that can have the advertising bells/whistles added at a later time when funding is available.
It will begin installation the week after the weekend series with South Alabama, which is May 10-12. It will be operational for the Sun Belt Conference tournament on May 22nd, which will be the next event in the stadium following the South Alabama series. The Daktronics folks will be here to operate the new scoreboard during the tournament and will train university personnel at that time to operate it in the future.
I don't think the overall size could be 12x75 with the 16:9 high definition format making any kind of sense. If you assume a 75' wide scoreboard, the height with a 16:9 format would be 42'. If you assumed a video only section of 37' in width, the height of the video section would be 21' high. Damn, I still remember some of that math.![]()
