I'm no expert on scoreboard prices. Nor am I one to complain about any gift we get. However, aren't the nicer scoreboards nowadays way more than $375,000? I was kinda hoping our next scoreboard would be a big digital screen. I doubt that is the kind that was donated though. Oh well. It's still free and I'll take it.

Asked about this afterward. I was told the purchase was for the core scoreboard, which is an LED system capable of video replay and continual updating of statistics to the at bat. Obviously, it will also do the standard scoring requirements. The old one had to have the statistics figured outside the system and then enter it into the scoreboard.

The plan is to use the current pipe support system, and brick the pipes in after the season to look more uniform to the park. They will also be adding areas to the outside of the scoreboard for advertising signage, which will not be included in the initial installation. The company we are purchasing it from will use the conference tournament as an opportunity to train staff on the operation, and will be the ones who handle it during the tournament.

Awesome info. Thanks. I'm much more excited about it now. I saw the $375,000 and was worried we were getting another cheap ___ scoreboard for the next 15+ years

It does matter who got the money when someone give credit to a person who did not get it!!

Based on this I will make the assumption you do not like the job that Ken is doing? Care to explain?

Lafitte the Pirate said: Ken Winstead did not get this money for the scoreboard. Gerald Hebert did!!

I say: Thanks goes out to Gerald Hebert, the same guy that got us the awesome billboard on the corner of Congress and Bertrand.

Yes, but do you realize if the university would have come forward about a new scoreboard needed instead of rolling out the old burnt box, we'd be in a wayyy better situation. This boggles my flipping mind, I don't understand how this doens't do the same to anyone else.

It's simple. We are in desperate need of something, but it's not publically known, so the funds aren't being raised because the fans seem to think everything's taken care of. Why not ASK FOR MONEY....???? Instead of going behind closed doors (which is still a very reliable option), how about put together donation drives, something! We could have been raising just "Scoreboard" money for quite some time, then cap it all off with a big donation like we had this week.

I don't think we do things the right way for the most part. FWIW, I know a lot of people that would have given as much as possible for a scoreboard fund, but it's hard to direct people on how much to give, where to give, whom to give to, when no one's asking.....

Don't be sensitive...it was not directed at you. The post you made was a good post. It said, "what an awesome gift", so I agreed with you becasue i think it was an AWESOME gift!!

I just elaborated a bit on the process of getting this gift as opposed to doing it the way it should've been done.

    Sorry Duggie, nothing against you...
