Now you guys got me all nostalgic for my college days. I remember getting a burger on Fridays at Pete's. Drinking a few brews and shooting some pool. Then we would walk down to the strip and hit Nightcaps and the Keg. Perhaps even Mako's and the Loose Caboose. A few times we even ended up at this place but really don't remember it.
There was a Pete's on Pinhook...unless I am just insane and made all this up in my head.
Pete's lost me years ago when our kids' sports teams would have a team gathering there. In keeping with the original Pete's, it was not a place for children. Heck, the original Pete's was the first time I ever heard of anyone "streaking" in Lafayette. I think thru the years they just lost direction in attempting to hold on to the original concept and ventured out without a set vision.
You are correct and before it was the Locke and Key it was the Raven (I think) this was back in the 70s.
The original Bulldog Inn was at the corner of McKinley and General Mouton (a parking lot is there now). I never forget, you would go up to the window to order a burger and they had a photo of Nikita Kruschev framed with a toilet seat. An unusual bit of decorating but quite effective.
Can anyone trace the ownership history of Pete's. Before and after Nelson.
