Yeah, it says there if we hang around the SBC long enough, we will become a big fish in a small pond.
This years or last? Because here is last years and its not even close: Southern Miss had a losing season last year and played 4 games on CBS natioanally, 2 on Fox Sports Nationally, 1 on ESPN2 or ABC Nationally, 1 on ESPN3 and 4 on CSS (COMCAST Sports Southeast). So just for the record, USM played 7 games on National TV, 1 on ESPN3 and 4 on Region TV in the Southeast.
The only reason UL has 5 national games is becuase we are playing an SEC and Big 12 program, otherwise we would have just 3. Their game against Nebraska last season was on CBS.
No debate there because we have no choice. That did not happen because of the Sun Belt, ESPN requested both games with UL because of the way they were treated here in Lafayette. That came straight from our athletic department. Otherwise, we are not sniffing those games either and no one watches games on the interent outside of diehard SBC fans.
God that's a horrendous slate of home games. I need a new conference.
I'm ok with the 5 home games. But spread them out better. I mean 2 home games out of the first 7????? Sucks
11-1.

The home schedule sucks but this is what you get when you play in the crappy and getting crappier Sun Belt Conference.
But on the bright side this is a schedule that:
- all but guarantees we'll be 8-4 at worst or 11-1 at best.
- all but guarantees a 3rd straight Bowl appearance.
- gives us a legitimate chance at a top 25 ranking.
- gives us a decent chance to play in a BCS game.
I would love to see us play many more home-homes with schools like La Tech, Tulane, Houston, Rice, and Southern Miss. I would love to see us bring in more BCS opponents. I'm not happy playing 1AA teams (except McNeese, Southern, or Grambling who all would fill the stadium and our pocketbook.) But at least this schedule gives us a great opportunity to step it up a notch and make a name for ourselves. I'm excited because if we can win one of our first two games we'll be ranked and in the national spotlight all year long.
