UL lives and dies with Payton and he's relied on so much he runs out of gas. These guys are trying, hopefully help is on its way.

    If this....If that....
The ifs and buts are getting old.
That was a frustrating game to watch.
The Cajuns just got skull dragged up and down the court.

As usual, a great effort. But we just plain weren't good enough talent-wise to win this game. WKU just couldn't miss in the first half, and after they got the big 15-20 point lead, we fought back several times to single digits but just didn't have enough to get closer than 8 or 9 before WKU made a couple of plays to get it back to a 10+ point lead. We desperately need some size, but again, that's not news to anybody who watches the games. Very important offseason coming up for Marlin. This summer will make or break Marlin's tenure here. If he gets a couple legitimate 6'9"+ contributors in the post, preferably at least one from JUCO for immediate impact, this can easily be a 20+ win team. They've got the effort, they've got a couple studs in Payton and Long, and they've got a few good, young role player-type guys in Wronk, Moore, etc. that can develop into great contributors for this team. We just need a couple anchors to help on defense, allow Long to slide out to the 4, and bring everything together.

All that said, if we're unable to add size to this team for next year to give those guys a chance to gel, I think Marlin will be in serious jeopardy moving forward after 2013-14. He needs to add the pieces for next year so that they can grow with Payton, Long, and the rest of the kids on the team so that 2014-15 can be a GREAT season with Payton as a senior and Long as a junior. He's got the golden opportunity this year with a young, hard-working core in place that doesn't look like it'll lose important guys to transfer. I know you can't MAKE them sign here, but if he doesn't add the right size he's setting himself and the team even further behind schedule, and I don't know if he can recover from it, especially with the possibility that we part ways with Farmer after his contract is up at near the end of that 2014-15 season and we may have a new athletic director looking to make his mark.

WKU shot lights out in the first half so hats off to them. We simply don't have enough size or depth this year. Payton was gassed as he was heavily relied on tonight and played well. Our role players didn't put up any points and we just couldn't recover from their big run in the first half.

Marlin needs some bigger bodies to come in next year to help us out.

First half sets up the second. Tonight the Cajuns were playing, and being skull drug by WKU & the refs.... There's no doubt UL basketball needs to improve; no doubt we were outplayed at times tonight... it sounds like I'm in the minority, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel.

We got beat by a better team. Marlin had better show that he can recruit and get some inside help into here. If not...
