Here's my thought. I know they try to spread awards around, but I would have put Sarah Draheim as the hitter of the week rather than South Al's Julie Moss. You tell me what you think (both played in five games during the week).

    Julie Moss 7/13
.538 batting average (7/13), 4 RBI, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 7 runs scored, 0 base on balls

    Sarah Draheim
.500 batting average (6/12), 7 RBI, 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and 7 runs scored, 5 bases on balls

I knew something wasn't right. That would've been an average of 14 Ks a game.

Looks like the two played against similar opposition, so Sarah had a slight advantage in overall numbers, but not enough to get crazy over.

I had looked at the opposition for both teams and all the player statistics, that's why I made the comment that I thought Sarah had the better week. I just thought one more hit in one more official at bat didn't offset the five walks, one extra home run, and three more RBI's. It's all an opinion of someone at the SBC office, but I like my opinion better.

I kind of discounted the RBI because frankly I expect her to drive in more runs because I expect more base runners when she comes up. I do like her power numbers and walks. Of course if the pitcher had not gone lame she might have never gotten a hit or walk in the last at bat and dropped her batting average, but so what the numbers are the numbers.

I absolutely agree with your assessment, I can see how it is close enough to satisfy the need to spread it around.

Question: Do run-rule games lead to more or less at bats?

Fewer innings = less at bats.

High scoring = more at bats.

That's typically why Mike chooses the visitor status at home games. So many of their games end in run rule that the team wouldn't get to bat in the fifth inning.
