Spirit of 76 (1976 Football Season)

Great video. I was 11 in 76. My dad would take us to all the home games and McNeese away games. Roy Henry and Rafael Septien were my first real memories of USL football. At that age, I just thought that was the norm in Cajun football.

Those offensive and defensive players coming out of the tunnel looked like NFL linemen. Amazing season and memories.

Great memories in that video from those of us that were students at the time. They did gloss over the terrible PI call against us that set up McNeese for a late season one point victory in Lake Charles. Still, that was a special season and set the stage for the move into 1A a few years later.

My freshman year of college. We’d get to the stadium for 5:30 so we could grab a top row seat. Awesome experience for a 17 year old.
