  1. Ragin' Cajuns Ragin' Cajuns Control Season Opener from Start to Finish

The Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team plated seven runs in the sixth inning to distance themselves from Central Michigan on the way to a 12-6 win in the 2013 season opener in front of 2,209 on a chilly Friday evening at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

There were three new starters in the outfield, all junior-college transfers.

There was a new starting shortstop, Blake Trahan, straight out of Kinder High, and a new starting third baseman, Sam Carriere, a transfer from LSU-Eunice.

They look different at the plate. A lot of our guys were just attacking the ball. Even if they cut on one and missed, it was better than just looking at decent pitches like we did so often last year.

Yep. Very few strike outs looking. They were swinging the bat...and usually drove the ball somewhere. Good hits to the gaps...to the wall...at critical times. Nice to see...after seeing very little of that for 2 years.

Yes yes and yes, it looks like this team finally has some attitude back at the plate. If you're not aggressive at the plate in college baseball, you're not doing it right.

It's about damn time we see this change. Let's hope it stays this way throughout the season.

Robe is due for a solid team. It's seems like we make the NCAA every four years.

I have a good source from the future that says we will be back in Omaha in 2 years. Hopefully his DeLorean isn't malfunctioning and bringing him here from the year 2000. Then, I wouldn't really be able to trust that source anymore.
