Thread: Sadness in Lafayette tonight

    Default Sadness in Lafayette tonight

Turb, I didn't know where to post this, so ill let you take care of that.

It's a sad night for the entire STM family to lose someone so young like that to such senseless violence. Idk personally what happened, and I'm sure some of you have your sources, but I won't be one to post something I heard from someone who heard from someone etc..

I hope justice is brought to this case. Some people are treating this like "o, dumb privileged white kids were up to know good" but this is way more than that. Lance Kelley's younger brother was also in this whole debacle, just thought y'all would like to know that.

Hug your kids tight tonight guys

I've known the Fotenot kid for a few years and never knew him to be a violent kid. He made a stupid decision to fire a weapon inside a vehicle regardless of his intent. For his decision, he will spend his life in prison and another kid lost his life. Unfortunately the three youths were not exactly up to something good, but no one deserved to lose their lives in this event.

One of the other surviving kids is the son of former UL baseball player, Jon Bellamy.

Jon didn't play at UL. He played at Lafayette High, UNO, then pro ball before being injured and ending what probably would have been a major league career. His son is doing well, and should be released soon.

For anyone who thinks these kids were "not exactly up to something good", you have no idea what really took place. The only bad decision they made was to give a kid a ride home, who previously was going to walk home, so he could be safe. And as it turned out, things worked out exactly opposite of safe due to Seth Fontenots unwarranted actions. It was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, mistaken identity, and the ultimate tragedy for Austin Rivault.

Sportfanatic, I don't have all the story but If you believe this was just about someone giving some else a ride then you clearly don't have it either. Due to the sensitive nature of board members knowing both families I will let the judicial system run its course. And as I stated, this was a senseless killing.

Trust me T. I know the story. If you have heard something, or think you know something different than what I just said, you're wrong. Feel free to message me, and I'll explain.

Unless you talked to both parties and they said the same exact thing, you don't know the whole story.

Just before this turns into a I know the "real" story and everyone starts getting ugly....bear in mind that 3 very young lives were changed forever early Sunday morning and one has ended....the ripple effect from this stretches far. The ONLY people that KNOW exactly what happened are the 3 that are still alive and that were there. I'm not going to judge someone one by a mugshot and a story just like i'm not going to judge what the 3 kids were doing at 1:45 am.

Hopefully the media will tell the story in it's entirety so that these kids will be nothing more than the unfortunate victims that they are. Cole Kelley was giving a friend a ride home, so that he wasn't walking alone at that time of night. Seth Fontenot shot at them thinking they were possibly the same person(s) that had broken into his truck previously. Thats what happened. If anyone wants to tell you anything more, they are flat out making it up.

Okay, I will do sorry for all the families. It was a senseless murder and I'm just shocked by the whole incident.
