So you wanted Mr Farmer to stand next to Mike and lie in front of everyone ?

Never said that we should make softball a number 1 priority, that would be stupid. I'm just saying that if we want our softball team to continue to compete on a national level we will need to find some more funding. If we are okay just competing for a sunbelt title then we should be okay.
I agree, we have one of the nicest facilities in the country, but make no mistake, TITLE IX had a little something to do with that.
Without a doubt, UL needs to learn how to manage information better. I'm just not sure that in this day of instantaneous social media, there's much of a chance of avoiding 90% of what went down today. For outsiders critical of our mess today... just wait your turn... it's coming. I also think this developed throughout the day, so there wasn't much an early press release would have eliminated.
Personally, I think we, by means of this forum, multiplied the issue today by 500. But, it will happen like this all over America every time something sensational goes down... as long as we have social media. It is somewhat unavoidable.
Like everything else, this is way bigger today than it will be tomorrow. Our softball program will work this out. I pray for the Lotief's and how this is impacting them.
We need to stick together on this. I want our very special softball program to continue to thrive. If an outside shark appears anywhere near our program as a result of this... I've got my enemy shark stick loaded to jam in their eye socket and blow them out of the water.
Fair enough...btw...I know what went down today and over the last few days and I agree with you...Mike probably could have handled it better but he was not the source of the problem....if that makes any sense.
He probably knows more about the softball program, it's players, and coaches, from inception than anyone else on this board. If there was a Softball Fans Hall of Fame, he would certainly be there, although he might prefer to be presented a token other than a "plaque" since that has become somewhat of a troublesome word over the years.
The old saying, "there's no crying in baseball" also applies to softball, and he knows all about the substantial hardships, sacrifices, and the institutional resistance these coaches have endured behind the scenes. The mistakes don't come anywhere near the achievements.
No school like ours has a softball program like ours for a reason. One of them is that none of our coaches depended on their UL salary to make a living. Another one of them is a unique fan base that has functioned in a supportive role.
I don't like today's developments, and I don't like some of yesterday's, but that's a reason to be behind the players and diehard fans even more.
Okay
