The school just had its best ever recruiting class in any sport at any time in the history of the school (a possible bb class or two maybe)....must be the same group that always screams for a local whenever a coaching opening takes place. Like having some all-district db from Acadiana is the main reason a few thousand will attend a game or get interested in the program. Granted, if there were more 3 and 4 star guys in the area on a consistant basis, you could maybe make an arguement for more local talent. On a consistant basis, that's not the case. Look at the class Kentucky signed, I think there are 2 guys on it from Kentucky. What gets me is that every year (3 this year) guys from the area that signed LOI's with other schools (one time UL targets) now transfer in. That just kills me, the school wasn't good enough the first time around? Family issues aside, the program will reach a point soon where ( you saw some of this just this week) if you're not all in then don't let that big red door hit you on the way out. its a one and done thing....you get one chance to say yes....which is a great position for the program to be in.

The best recruiting class in the history of collegiate recruiting "anywhere" was UL 1943.

Does anyone know who they are holding the final 3 spots for in this recruiting class. They have to be targeting 1 or 2 big time recruits that don't get in with the big boys, right?

One is Tevin Lawson. LaState wants to offer a grey shirt after they promised about 50 kids a scholly. He is "planning" to visit Kentucky this weekend, but some now think he may not go since they also only have a grey shirt to offer. The other two? They're holding for some big D linemen that go unsigned by some programs because of their greed leading to a lack of a scholly to extend.

Florida has 20 million people we, have a little over 4 million, but probably the same amount of schools recruiting the area.

However The issue is "not if we recruited them" but "those that we recruited from LA and got away" - that is the real issue. Here is a few:
Tre'vel Dix, Christopher Robinson, Duke Riley, Josh Boutee, Hakim Gray, Ryan Hoefield, Darian Claiborne, Shelby Christie, Deondre Skinner, Kieron Williams, Kaleb Blanchard, Lethan Carter, Carols Henderson, X Zavier Preston, Jermaine Atoinne ... we extended offers, but they went elsewhere.
Out of curiosity, how many of those guys signed with schools like LSU, Tex A&M, Alabama, etc? Even if we "build a fence", chances are, that we wouldn't get the majority of those kids anyway. Now if we offered, and they went to places like Houston, USM, Tulsa, basically any CUSA or other Sun Belt schools, than I would consider them misses.

And yet our facilities are no where close to what they have to recruit too. Its amazing what fans expect after 2 bowl wins, but no major facility improvements.
