My personal favorite from around the area is Michael Bari. He took a relatively new program over in Eunice (LSU-Eunice) and brought them to their first above .500 season in that programs history. And if you are worried about his recruiting skills, in his first year with a team consisting of ONLY his recruits, they went 27-5 and finished 4th ranked in the nation.
I missed this comment in The Morning Advocate, I'm curious what Coach Hall was trying to say about UL :
“We really didn’t have a lot to sell (at University of Louisiana) other than the fact the people cared,” Hall said. “We have everything we need here. It’s going to be easier, but it’s not going to be easy.”
This is the link to the article in the advocate :

If I'm interrputing his comments right, it sounds like he doesn't think our Women's Basketball Team has anything left to offer, and Cincinnati is going to be easy to turn-around, and go for his rainbow. I take offense to that, if that was his meaning.
I don't think that is what he meant. What I get from that quote is the truth...he didn't have a lot to sell about our womens basketball team. He had bad ficilities, little to no recruiting budget, but he had a lot of people that cared and wanted to see the program get better. All of which is true.Originally Posted by CajunTundra

Coach Hall once told me that some of the reasons UL was not brought into CUSA was it's womens programs.
Lady Cajun Basketball has poor locker rooms, poor officials dressing areas, restrooms and concessions poor.
I feel the money that has been put into Long Gym could and should have been put into Blackham. A new roof was put on Long could have been put on Blackham(red metal).
Chairbacks on each side of center court (250 on each side) to start. Spend money on the Press area.
Locker room expansion through attached metal building with Red Metal roofing.
Interior halls of Blackham are dark, filthy, and full of metal pipes. UL should box these walls off with a light color and add lighting.
Increase the size and number(eventually) of concession stands.
Remodle and update the ticket office.
These and other improvements would be more attractive to Fans, players, officials, competition and CUSA.

ps I know this would take money but why dump money that you could in the very near future out grow. Dump this money and others into Blackham and this would also alow the university to tear down Long to make room for further expansion. Volleyball, softball and ladies basketball all use Long Gym, they are the only ones on campus. Bring these teams to the North campus with the rest of the sports teams so the family is not displaced and more room is made available on the UL south campus for learning buildings!!!
pss Hell, make Long the Student Athletic Center for Studies(SACS)!!!!![]()
I like your idea about making Blackham the women's home.Originally Posted by DaddyCajun

This may be true but how many years will it be before the ladies draw enough fans to have a HOME advantage in the dome? Not trying to be negative, I just know that Coach Hall loved playing in Long due to the noise advantage with 300 to 1000 fans in attendance.Originally Posted by lcitsh

How long will depend upon the choice made on the new coach and the assistants hired. We as fans will then need to support the program, by our presence and our dollars. It's my belief that EKL was preferred because that's where they practiced the most. If you practice more at the Dome, and can get more fans there, there's no question it's a better option.Originally Posted by DaddyCajun
