Thread: The HALLs are Headed to Cincinnati

  1. Default Re: The HALLs are Headed to Cincinnati

I could easily slip down a path and say some things on this forum that I have wanted Cajun Fans to know about Coach Hall, but I'm going to stay positive, and look at it this way. We used to pay for just one Coach Hall, and last season we paid for two, so maybe that means the school can look for a exciting talented New Coach that pulls the price of two Hall's. Who ever we get, there's quite a good group of girls here, ready to play ball, and ready to show the SunBelt that we can do it again.

Hey guys and gals I am from Cincinnati and will be covering the womens program I was wondering if any of you could tell me anything about the Halls as far as offensive and defensive philosophy?

From reading this board it looks like the Bearcats got a good one.

Your teams will have a great defense and will rebound the ball like there is no tomorrow. His goal here was to implement a fast paced game but the personel dictated otherwise. Coach Hall will mold his offense around the players strengths.

He will recruit the best players in the country because he knows how to recruit to a players imagination. Anything is possible.

ps Drop us a line sometime and let us know how things are going. Thanks

    Sure thing.

Since the schools web site (ragincajuns.com) is being remodeled and won't be back on line for a few days you might use this bio Link to brush up on his pre UL history.

A small tidbit for you...When Coach Hall first came on, he posted signs around the school gym to ask for male basketball players to come in compete against the Lady Cajuns during practice. I'm sure he isn't the first to do this, but I thought it was nice additional challenge for the ladies.

The former coach at Cincinnati did the same thing.

Let's face it, the "co-head coach" position in this case was a sham. It was a way to get more money for the Hall family while seemingly sacrificing a good assistant coach in Bill Danmuth. I don't blame him for leaving after essentially being demoted. While I truly respect Meredith Hall as a coach, J. Kelley Hall was the head coach. A pure co-head coach situation resides in the softball. I also feel bad for the players who have committed to playing for U.L. and have lost their coach. Don't get me wrong, the fact that the program is in good shape is a testament to the abilities of the Halls. We hopefully can get a quality coach to continue their success because of their success. I wish them nothing but luck in Cincinnati.

I don't remember exactly how it was worded by the University, but the Hall's were always upfront about their reasoning for the co-head coach positioning. Money was the reason for the co-head coaching. That topic was never talked around. Am I misunderstanding what you mean when you call it a sham?

Hey---We won last night in baseball and signed a great football player from Baker---At least we should have better job applications for the position than in years past!!!!

By sham I mean it was never a true co-head coach situation. Everything that was said by all involved at the time was that this was to be completely equal in every way. Let's be honest, J.Kelley Hall was always in charge. I wouldn't have had a problem with it considering the guidelines in place about spouses not working for spouses if it wasn't for Danmuth losing stature in the situation. I asked a former player her thoughts about the Danmuth resignation. Her response was, "Do you blame him (for leaving)?" Again, both of the Hall's are good coaches and deserve a lot of credit for bringing true basketball to U.L. They did a great job, were compensated for it, and moved on to greener pastures. Good for them.
