So if we get a true 6'9" or 10" post player, you'd have him play the 4?

I likely wouldn't play them at the same time. Also, the odds of us signing a 6'9 or 6'10 post player good enough to start is slim.
I would prefer a 6''6 through 6'8 athletic 4 man who can hit the boards. I think that would our current roster better than a 6'9 or 6'10 guy
The coaches are recruiting a true post player so Long can play at the 4, like he and the coaches want him to, whether they sign him or not well, we'll find out. Jackson plays post on his hs team, but he is shorter and lighter than Shawn, so it is unlikely he would be as a effective as Shawn at the 5 next season.
We need a true post player, with the hips to clear out and stand his ground down low. I'm sure Marlin agrees. Everyone adapts around what they do and don't have. But, it would really add some options we don't currently have.
The coaching staff should be able to parlay Long's success is to a recruiting win.
"Look what a true 4 did on the boards in our system. As a true post player you can lead the country in rebounds."
Getting a true post player of impact will be next to impossible. Thinking they will have to settle for someone similar to Long who can do both well, we need someone to spell him. The kid from Texas may already be the back up four.
Interesting stat
"UNT has only given up more points than it allowed to the Ragin’ Cajuns just once during its 13 seasons in the Sun Belt, back in its first season in the league in 2000-01, when the Mean Green lost 107-63 to Western Kentucky."

Look, we do not need to play with a "true 5" on the floor. Our best lineup IMO would be to have Peyton at PG, Mbombalu at SG, fill in the blank at SF, Shawn Long at the 4 on the perimeter/mid range and a 4 who is a garbage type player like Rodman.
With that lineup we would run through the Sun Belt if we get some consistency shooting the ball.
