I like Hundley because I think he can only get better but 2 years from now I might feel differently. Start the best player, is my opinion, let everything else fall into place. If you have to go to more of a traditional running game to allow Hundley to prosper then so be it...I want to win I don't care how. _
Oh, I completely agree. TTU's QB's have been more like Hundley than Desormeaux. It would be easy for us to tweak our offense to make it closer to theirs so that Hundley could prosper, I just don't think we will if one of the young guys steps up.

I love to run the ball, but like you, I want to win even if it means we throw 60 passes a game like TTU.

I think a running game gives you much more consistent play, thats why I like a strong running game. A passing game a lot of times is hit or miss because you have so many variables that come into play.

Another thing we might want to think about is 2 years from now Fenroy will be gone...and Wallace will be a SR but what if we have a problem finding a stable of running backs like we have now? It might be best to go to more of a passing game but that is 2 years from now, I am worried about the here and now. And the here and now has Fenroy and Desmo and I am happy with that.

Have you seen the clips on the two RB recruits from this year? They look pretty darn good on film, and against Texas 5A competition.

I have seen some film and your right it is impressive but you never know how they might do once they get to college ball. I think and hope they will do great but its hard to look 2 years down the road and predict. I want to stick with the running game we have going because I feel we are finally starting to get an identiy which UL has not had from some time. Watching the spring game I seen WR's put into position where they were able to make plays in space and I believe that adds that extra deminsion I wanted all of last year.

Who knows in 2 years we might see a similar stratagy like Florida had with the 2 QB system. I think we will start seeing a lot more of this type of system.

I don't. I think Florida used that system this year because they felt that Tebow was not ready to be a full time starter, but he is just SO good and adds that extra demension that Leake didn't have that they put in a goal line package just for him. I doubt they will use a 2 QB system this year. Tebow will likely be their every down QB and they will tweak their system to suit his talents.

We were very lucky the way it worked out that we had that huge end to the 05 season, and that the team ran the ball like crazy, and seemingly found its true identity in such a short time. But mostly because Fenroy was a, if not THE, cornerstore in that run (pun definitely intended), because even though a running game like we had involves several pieces, he was a freshman RB who was tearing teams up, knocking people over, and that created a bunch of hype being the first 1000yd RB in school history. And I say we were lucky because this all happened with a FRESHMAN. That means he has four years total to continue to build the indentity so that when his services aren't here anymore, we have used that four year period to take to hot RB's living room couches to say look at what we can do. If you want touches, come to Lafayette, we'll get you touches.

especially, if Fenroy can get some national pub for what he does. If he only gets 1000 yards each of the next two seasons, then then that would put him close to 4500 for his career. And if he can get a little run in the draft, or get signed and make some noise, even better. And that's not even talking about what Wallace could do. What if both guys get 1000 yards this year or next? Or what if Wallace, himself, blows up for 1000-1300 as a senior. Even more juice to take to recruits homes (RB and OL) to say we are a running school, our guys get yards, our guys score TDs, our guys get recognized nationally, etc. It only means that we will be able to recruit higher profile recruits to the school.

    IF machine shutting down now.

Look for Texas to use a system like Florida did with the 2 QB's...they have a freshmen coming in who they think could be their Tebow and I heard he would be getting reps like Tebow did in the running game.
