VERMILION & WHITE GAME SATURDAY noon
UL's football team wrapped up its major preparations for the Red-White Spring Game Wednesday, and Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle predicted a more competitive contest than his team's first two scrimmage sessions.
The Cajuns' first full scrimmage of spring drills was controlled by the offensive unit, and last Saturday's second scrimmage session was dominated by a defense that pitched a shutout. Bustle said that Saturday's noon game at Cajun Field likely will split the difference.
"Both of them competed pretty good today," Bustle said of Wednesday's 40-play scrimmage that wrapped up practice. "Saturday, the defense was the only one competing. Today, we ran some situational things, and it was pretty even."
