UL Baseball FAU Coach Cooney a class act

Had a chance to visit with him over the weekend. Quite a guy.

Want to know what he thought of his trip to Louisiana?

    Go to www.fausports.com

    Go to the baseball page.

About 1/2 way down on the right, click on the graphic that says "Diamond Diaries"

We _____ on this forum all the time about things that aren't done right.

Evidently there are some things we do that ARE.

Does that not define bitter sweet in the world of sports?

That was the classiest recap LINK I have ever read by an opposing coach who had a less than desirable weekend on the field. Kevin Cooney is now my favorite non Ragin' Cajun Sun Belt coach.

If his bio is up to date he will probably join Robe in the 700 club later this year. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

    Thanks coach Cooney

    ps Thanks Jay

Un F'ing believable. that was fantastic. I think that when some of the cooking club members read the words he wrote, their tab will have been truly settled. To be written about like that does much more for you than a few bucks, or even a lot of bucks, in the wallet. Thanks Coach.

Damn, guys. You should be really proud.

We, as baseball fans, aspire to become what you guys are one day. Very impressed, and I've seen it first-hand at the Tigue-- are any members of the Krewe des Chew also in the Cajun Cooking Club?

I know our Coach Steve Peterson has said many of the same things that Cooney has said.

'Cept we usually win at least one of 'tree

Great words from a great coach. He had a lot to be disappointed about after the weekend but he gave credit where it was do and you don't get to hear that much. He is truly a class act.

He is a class act. To take the time to write this says a great deal about this man's character.

This is an authentic representation of Lafayette and Ragin Cajuns, and we ought to be proud. The cooking club is going to get my financial support, whether they need it or not.

This ought to be a feature article in The Advertiser. Very cool.

This guy is a champ... he has to be the next best thing to coach Robe. I really was stunned at some of the things he said. Lookin' forward to some good rivalries in the years to come!

I've heard that same type of commentary for years... A few years back we met some of the South Al fans on Friday night and invited them to come tailgate with us on Sunday morning... They showed up with a slab of baby-backs which only added to the quantity of meat I burnt that Sunday morning...lol.. but we all had a blast and they commented as did the coach of the Fla Atlantic on how this place is special.... I feel fortunate to be a Cajun fan.........

Friday night for the first few innings the sound system was acting up and the announcer (I forget his name) was doing a "remote" from the third base bleachers right in front of us.... In between innings when he finally can catch his breath i offered him an "Add-on" to his pre-game statement regarding sportsmanship.,.. I suggesed that at the end he add

"Remember Cajun fans.... this is NOT BATON ROUGE".....

That would have really upset that clown on Saturday who was decked out in all LSU crap standing alone by the granstand entrace on the third base side. then again, if he were actually from BR, then he wouldn't have come all the way to lafayette to watch us, instead he would have stayed there and watched his "alma mater."

Nah, they were not playing baseball in Baton Rouge after 2pm Sunday.
