If you are coming to the banquet Friday stop by and say hi to KP and his dad. They will be coming to the banquet and really want to meet everyone. I know it would mean a lot to them. Good luck on Saturday. Wish I could be there to see the action!! Take care everyone.

See everyone at the banquet and then the game Saturday. Should be a good game - spring practice has been competitive even with several key guys out.

  7. UL Football Ex Ragin' Cajun stars offer advice to departing '06 squad

UL's 2006 football team celebrated its season and received its awards Friday during the team's annual banquet.

More importantly, the team got to hear from several of its predecessors, former Cajuns who went on to find success in the professional ranks.

Award presenters Brian Mitchell, Chris Gannon, Ike Taylor, Antwain Spann and D'Anthony Batiste each gave brief remembrances of their UL careers during the banquet at River Oaks Conference Center. The banquet was held on the eve of the Cajuns' Red-White spring game, scheduled at noon today at Cajun Field.

"Keep working and cherish the memories," said Taylor, now with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a member of the Super Bowl XL champions. "Not many get a chance to go to the Super Bowl, and I wouldn't have been there had it not been for the people here."

"Go somewhere and make your own legacy," said Mitchell, a 14-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl winner, as well as the top two-way return threat in NFL history. "There were a lot of guys in our locker rooms from major colleges talking trash about where they were from. I just kept telling them that was fine, in a little while you'll be gone and I'll still be here.
