Benefit of being in the mighty SEC. This is only my opinion, of course, but if our exact team was in the SEC, we'd be in the top 5 in this poll for sure. I'm looking at the positive, though. More often than not, by my recollection, we usually start off further back in the rankings than we ended the previous season. Coupled with our schedule this year, we are in a good position to work our way into the top 5. Again, jmo, but like I said, I'm looking at the positives.

Other than the seasons after our college world series appearances, I think we usually start around the 20s plus or minus a few spots.

LSU was in the CWS last season. I think they earned the ranking last year.

You are SPOT on...both with your opening statement...as well as your opinion on where we've started and where we have a GREAT chance to finish.

The thing is, if we swap super regionals, I think they'd be out and we'd be in.

Precisely why seeding is critical. I think it would have made a huge difference on where LSU ended up in this preseason poll. They redeemed themselves in that super regional. It probably would not have changed the UL preseason rank.

I like where your head's at... hopefully we get another regional, I'd hate to be on the road for regionals playing a top 4 team!
