Bubba had a share of the stolen bases record for a while if I'm not mistaken.

As for Papo, this is the best I could do....

---"Well in fact one year I beat them twice and they didn't even score on me"!!! I am not Hud but I can embellish a bit!!! Thanks for setting that straight but pretty good bragging rights I would say!!!

CajunNation, I want a red belt.

Trivia:? What Ragin' Cajun got married at the Tigue?

Back then there were no Super Regionals. You had to make it through an 8 team regional to get to Omaha.

They made it to the the final game of the LSU regional losing to LSU 5-8 after coming through the losers bracket beating Texas A&M.

That club also had several future MLB players.
That team was legit. Lot of talent in those late 80s early 90s teams.

    J. Tatford also has the All time Hit by pitch record.
Oswaldo only started two years right?

Had it not been for an unfortunate incident in the minor leagues, I do belive Papo would have played in the majors. Papo was a beast and a super nice guy to boot. I know we have had some good players since Papo, but he would start for any Cajun team since he played.

Also I think that one of the most interesting position is Catcher, you have Massiate, Bako and Lucroy. I know Lucroy has some great Major League numbers, but Massiate played AAA for most of his career and Bako was a journeyman catcher in the Majors for some 13 years. I had the pleasure of being in school when Bako played, he will always be my favorite for the way he played the game and his love for the Cajuns, he played all out, every game.
+1,000,000.....In my opinion Papo was baseball's version of Brian Mitchell. Apples to oranges comparison, I know. Dude was super talented.

I have a tidbit about Papo that year. He came in highly recruited by Boulanger, but he was terrible in fall ball. He may have had two hits all of fall. Coach quit starting him. Going into Spring, we did not know what kind of player we had. Papo did'nt think much about fall ball. When the lights came on when the season started, he became the player we all know. Playing the Longhorns early in the season, they could not keep Papo off base.
I have never seen a player frustrate the opposing team like he did. As a right handed leadoff hitter, he of course had speed. But I though his strength was that he could absoultely hammer the ball to the oppostie field.

Man, Gros always looked like he was throwing BP. I guess HS kids were used to that speed(or lack of).

Man we had some good times at Tigue back then.
And also "Papo would have had that" after his playing days.
