I say start with the 2000 CWS team and then decide who you would take off of that team and who you would replace them with. I'm not sure who I would take off. Tough to beat what they accomplished.
The 1991 club was every bit as talented and impressive as the CWS club.
They were 41-15 and beat Oklahoma State, Clemson, Texas, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Texas A&M.
Back then there were no Super Regionals. You had to make it through an 8 team regional to get to Omaha.
They made it to the the final game of the LSU regional losing to LSU 5-8 after coming through the losers bracket beating Texas A&M.
That club also had several future MLB players.
There were certainly a bunch of great ballers on that squad. But, it's tough to overlook great individuals that didn't happen to play on that team. Great teams have the inherent quality of making certain individuals look better than they are. And bad teams have the reverse effect.
I wonder who Robe would put on his all time team based on the players he's coached at UL? I imagine most would be the same as the fans select... but I bet there would be a surprise or two.
I have three for the list. Two big hitters, David (Sky) King and Butch Harris. One pitcher Donnie Wall
Justin Robicheaux as a closer...
