One of these days I will be behind the plate in those wonderful seats, but right now it just doesn't seem possible with weekday games and my current situation. Mark my words...one day I will be there. That is easily one of the best ways to spend a weekday afternoon, or weekend midday during the spring.

I went watch practice the other day and I tell you what I see is arrogance a.k.a. swagger. Depth is defiantly visible in the IF and the OF. With the way the schedule works out this year we should get off to a great start before rolling into conference. On the mound will be the question, but how many years have we said this. It seems to me that our pitching staff year after year is either 1st or 2nd in conference. As a matter of fact I cant even remember when the Cajuns finished worst than 2nd in conference.
Year after year that I follow the Cajuns one thing is always constant, pitching. It seems to me that the years we hit we get to a regional. With the way we swing the bats and our speed on the base paths (this will be one of robes fastest teams he has had in a long time) we will be in a bright spot come April and May.

I think this has a lot to do with Deggs. Reading his bio on the athletic department website made me kind of giddy. One of the things he talked about was every hitter having their roles, they hit as a pack...wolfpack maybe? During the years Trahan was there they seemed to, early in the game, swing for the fences all the way down the lineup. By the middle of the game they would figure it out and just play ball. I am very anxious to see what a full offseason of Deggs can do for our lineup. I'm not worried about the pitching...there is one thing Tony's teams always do...and that's pitch well. Everything else...usually makes us get gray hairs.
