    Default 2013 Cajun Baseball

First of all, I won't sit here and make any prodictions whatsoever BUT...................This years team will have a totally different look than years past. Athletes all over the field, speed, gap hitters, and what may be the best total defense [IF and OF] that Robe has had here in MANY years. Power will be more visible as well this season but again, with the new bats.........you know what I mean. Yes, as always, pitching is the curiosity of everyone but I will say this; they have arms that throw strikes and the addition of Traffica [back from TJ], Carter [med. redshirt], Cody Boutte [LSUE], and a year more of maturity from Robe and Cockerall plus a few new arms, this staff has a lot of potential and an "attitude" to go with it. Translate [NOT SCARED to go after hitters].

Strentz returns behind the plate........HUGE addition, J. Conrad keeps getting better day by day and will be fun to watch, Compton was lights out in the fall as was B. Conrad. Butler will only get better with the stick and the RBI's will come with it too. With the new additions of JUCO's Carriere and Kjerstad, this team WILL SCORE RUNS. Lets not forget about Leonards and Tyler G. as well. Both big contributors back from last season.

Unlike many teams of the past, this group will have many interchangable parts defensively and offensively. I hate to use the "Y word" but yes, they'll be "young" again but this time "young" with experience. Big difference from just "young".

The only thing for certain that I will predict is that this team will be really fun to watch. Asst. coach Matt Deggs has been a true blessing to come on board here. He has instilled a belief in these young men and the element of accountability. Basically, 'DO YOUR JOB" or he"ll find someone else who can. A quiet arrogance is very visible with this team.

2013 will be a huge step for the future of UL baseball. Come out and support these kids who have been busting their ___ since August with many goals in mind. This group deserves our support.

I hope you are right, Sitter, and suspect you are correct more than not. More than anything, we need consistent hitting. The opposite of that is what did us in for quite a few games last year. I'm pumped about the possibilities...and I've got my camper and grill ready to go. I WILL be there!!

This is music to my ears! We gotta get attendance up from last year. It was low last year. Lets go for broke and average over 3,500 this year! And pack The Tigue with Vermilion when we spank LSU's ___!

Who's the scariest hitter in the lineup... to drive the deep ball... of the new and returning guys? Who is the projected 3 and 4 hitters?

Butler and Strentz will be in the 3/4/5 area for sure.

I was curious if we were improving our 3/4 threat this upcoming season. We seemed in our best years to pick up the rest of hitting when we centered the team around a solid 3/4. Not just big hitters... but tough minded guys at the plate. Last year it sure was odd how some games we were lights out with the bat. And at other times we were horrible... for no apparent reason. I'd like to see a player take over the mindset of the dugout offensively... like a Lucroy. No need to talk the talk... just walk the walk.

anhil8tor, I am in section L as well. Get ready to enjoys the season and start thinking of some good one liners. I usually give the opposing 3rd base coach a hard time.
