    Holy hyperbole, Batman!!!

Jeese, and here I was thinking that losing to DII North Alabama was the low water mark.

From their official site "UNA's win over Southwestern Louisiana in 1997 marked just the fifth win ever by an NCAA Division II school over a Division I opponent since the NCAA restructuring in 1973."

THAT, my friend was the worst day in the history of the program.

AND, we are a LOOOOONNNNGG way away away from that with no plans to return.

    So cheer up.

I am just glad I'm not a Stanford fan -

"UC Davis Stuns Stanford For Improbable 20-17 Win
Grant finds Smith with just eight seconds to deliver Aggies upset win

Tony Kays makes a 19-yard catch to the 6-yard line on the Aggies' winning drive on Saturday.

    Sept. 18, 2005

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Jon Grant stepped into the huddle before UC Davis' final drive and delivered a message to his teammates that would have seemed most improbable just a few hours earlier.

"What better stage could we be on. We're at Stanford Stadium. We're about to go on a game-winning drive," Grant told his teammates.

Then he delivered, capping a 72-yard march with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Blaise Smith with 8 seconds left Saturday night to stun Stanford 20-17 and spoil coach Walt Harris' home debut for the Cardinal.

After UC Davis (1-2) lost its opening two games to New Hampshire and Portland State, going on the road against a Pac-10 team didn't seem like the place for a team making the transition from Division II to Division I-AA to get its first win.

After falling behind 17-0 midway through the second quarter, it seemed even more unlikely, but the Aggies didn't give in and became the first non-Division I-A team ever to beat Stanford."

And, we had better be ready for McNeese State. They play Portland State on Labor Day weekend, then have the week off before playing UL.

Like the Stanford loss to UC Davis, remember Northwestern State beating TCU and Maine beating Miss. State. These things do happen and UL cannot afford such a loss, not just to a 1AA school but to an in state school and former rival.

I don't think it will happen, as I am expected a great season for UL. But, we'll be coming off games vs. Bowl Teams last year in USC and Ohio. And, McNeese will be well rested and their coaches will have a chance to see us play v. Ohio on their off week, so they will be ready.

I'm not sure if Bustle understands the importance of this game, other than it is the next game on our schedule. His inability to beat ULM (1-4) is of concern and this 1AA team is capable of upsetting us, if we're not ready and don't take them seriously.

I would hope we respond to McNeese like LSU does to us, i.e. a game we should not only win, but dominate; then go out and do it. This should be fun.

Coach hopefully understands the importance of 1 game at a time. The most important game of the season right now is South Carolina, followed closely by Ohio.

While Coach isn't pleased at having a losing record against munrow, we do a have a conference championship, and 2 non-losing seasons in 2005-2006.

I can't say for certain (we haven't discussed it) but I feel like he is 100% clued in on the importance of this game.

I also feel like he fully understands having preseason E-MAC champ pick Ohio U. at home prior to McNeese and the prestige associated with a win over them as well as beating the preseason SBC pick in Troy in the week afterwards.

Anyone who can't appreciate the quality in our 2007 schedule is missing something.

PS Not to even mention a game at UF@Disneyland before the month of September is over.

Yeah, but according to one mag, we have the easiest schedule in D1A. Should be a piece of cake this year.

Is the McNeese game here in Oregon or Louisiana? I would love to check out the competition.(probably lack of competition) Portland State looked pretty good last year. KP played with some of their players when he was in high school here. I'll wear my Rajin Cajun shirt and speak into my shoe and report back to the masses.

I am one of the few people that will admit that I was not there. Coincidentally, I was in Africa at the time. I did however attend each and every game of the Baldwin era.

I wasn't there either. I was in Bolivia. Lake Titicaca, if my memory serves. I stayed at the Inca Utama Hotel, enjoying drinks and the company of a nubile Bolivian mistress. My ascent into the Andes the next day was enjoyable indeed.

I was at the Tx A&M game but had I known about the nubile young maidens of the high Andes, I would have been in Bolivia.

I have a side gig with National Geographic in case you were wondering.
