That was a typo... I meant 4 out of 5 "averaged" over 40. USA and FAU won 5 total games combined. They sucked. ULM, once Browning went down, was one of the worst opponents on our schedule. I definitely didn't consider our final stretch to be harder than the opening stretch. We also had a rainy game in that opening stretch... which usually reduces offensive stats. Our defense slumped midseason... because the DC didn't know how to make adjustments and we confronted teams smart enough to exploit it. I think our defense got better when we switched to the 4-3. Broadway, as an individual, quite naturally got better each game. But, my point is that this offense does not "start out slow". Like I said, Hud's first season had quite a few freshman as offensive starters... and Chris was mixing it up with Blaine. I don't think these siutational issues that are atypical would convert into "the Cajuns typically start out slow". We could start out next year blowing people's doors off offensively.
