Cheer up BC. It's Friday and you got a party to host tonight.
The early departures were quite baffling to me as well though. Funny thing was a lot of 112 and a lot of the students on the other side were standing towards the end. Folks in the middle? Not so much. No doubt these are some of the same people who occupy the middle sections at Cajun Field, there for UL social hour.
BTW, how was your Canes last night?
THIS! I think Long wants to play the point more than the blocks. I think Brown would have helped this year as well. If Coleby stayed I think we win the Sun Belt.. this team has bought into Marlin and his system. You can see guys hustling their ___ off... We are close... very close.
When going to a sporting event becomes a duty to the team you got a real problem with the program. Yes I share that feeling that going to a UL game is simply NOT fun very often.
Style of play, lack of stars, and youth are all laid at the feet of the coach. This is the third year, and he got a redo. Go figure.
Y'all are missing the point of what I'm trying to say. At no point did I say this team has no heart or desire to win. This team has FAR surpassed the effort of any team over the last 12 years, mostly because the Jessie teams were so talented they didnt need to hustle. They just won off of plain talent.
I just don't get WHY they have to consistently be playing from behind. And yes losing to teams such as TexSo and other subpar SBC teams throws me for a loop. Change those out for squeaker wins and we're 10-8, maybe 11-7 and looking REAL pretty for postseason hopes.
Lets start again. TWO PART TIME starters from last year. TWO. This team is starting again with a group of guys who are willing to work hard in the scheme being played. If you don't think they work hard, you haven't been watching. Do they make mistakes & miss shots. Yes.
One that wasn't left at mid term apparently didn't want to work in the system. Nine of the thirteen current roster players are new. This was going to be a learning year from the start, and it's exactly what it has been. They've played and lost close games to a number of teams who have veteran leadership and returning skilled players all year. I can't remember any games where they weren't in it at the end.
Am I disappointed that we didn't win a few more, sure. But I also see a team who holds their heads up and fights to win games, not mopes on the side when they get taken out or shows up on the bench without a jersey. Without a doubt we need some better players to fill the roster, including more size, but I'd take this team over last years any day.
